The conference Game Changer in Women of Influence, held at the Onassis Cultural Centre on Friday 20 January 2017 was particularly successful. The event was organized by 24MEDIA, the largest digital media network, in collaboration with the strategic communication company Symeon G. Tsomokos and was attended by more than 300 participants from the fields of politics, business and academia.
By means of discussions among 31 men and women holding key positions in the Greek and International communities and markets, a series of obstacles which even today hinder the progress and professional development of capable women, were discussed.
The first speaker to get the conference underway was Rania Antonopoulos, Alternate Minister for Combatting Unemployment, who pointed out existing employment inequalities and the underrepresentation of women in the Greek and European Parliaments. The General Secretary for Gender Equality, Foteini Kouvela, talked about the work done by the General Secretariat, stressing the high female unemployment rates in Greece and the need for proposals to enhance female entrepreneurship and for a just model that can ensure a balance between professional and personal life.
The President of PASOK, Fofi Gennimata, also delivered and interesting speech, mentioning the steps that have been made in the issue of gender equality but also noting that what is required is an actual change in mentality.
